3-5 students (undergraduate/diploma) in one group from the same university. Each university may submit a maximum of 4 entries.

Objectives:

To enhance creative writing skills while encouraging critical thinking in imagining a realistic and optimistic AI-driven future. Students craft a short futuristic story where AI helps tackle real-world ecological challenges.

Description:

Futurescapes: The AI Time Capsule Storytelling Challenge aims to spark creativity, teamwork, and forward-thinking perspectives among students. By integrating AI as both a topic and a tool, participants gain hands-on experience in shaping a narrative that reflects the possibilities and responsibilities of future technological advancements.

Duration of the video:

3-5 minutes

How to participate:

  1. Students collaboratively write a short story (200-300 words) imagining life in a future where AI provides innovative solutions and plays a major role in modern society.
  2. AI tools like ChatGPT, Grammarly, or Hemingway Editor may be used to refine language, but students must write the story independently. Storyboards or drafts must be submitted along with the final script (refined using AI).
  3. Stories must be submitted as animated slides, using only the specified AI platforms mentioned in the storyboards or drafts, such as Canva AI, Powtoon, or Animaker.

How to submit:

  1. Export it as a video file, upload the video to YouTube and set the visibility to Unlisted.
  2. Submit the YouTube link, draft and participant’s details via the Google Form.

Submission Deadline:  Wednesday, 19 November 2025, 11:59 p.m.

Judging Criteria:

  • Creativity & Originality (How engaging and unique is the story?)
  • Relevance to Theme (Does it highlight AI’s role in sustainability?)
  • English Language Proficiency (Grammar, coherence, vocabulary use)
  • Narrative Structure (Clear beginning, middle, and end)
